A done deal! Now that this shower installation has been tiled it is ready for the plumbing fixtures to be installed and new shower doors. The project was grouted using Mapei UltraColor FA All of the tile that was installed for the bathroom installation was purchased at Floor & Decor. Pricing at this tile warehouse is very reasonable and they offer a wide selection of tile from around the world.
Another well thought out choice made by the homeowner was the selection of a in-line or linear drain. This drain is from Schluter-Kerdi. This drain will not leak. The channel body of the drain is stainless steel and the engineered waterproofing application to the channel body is the reason that these drains will not leak. Other drains do no use this technology and leave the waterproofing to the installer with vague instructions on what to use for their products.
The bathroom tile flooring is a porcelain penny tile. This is really a classic tile design and in most tile installation projects that you will see this bathroom installation takes a reverse flooring install. Most bathroom tile projects will install the penny tile on the shower floor and install the large format tile on the bathroom floor. Here we have the opposite of most installations which adds to the uniqueness of this bathroom tile installation.
The addition of the shower shelf opposite the window is a big + for shampoo and soaps. This was modified by adding the column, left end of picture. This means that the new glass shower doors will now be installed on a flat surface which will give the installation a clean look. We really enjoyed working on this bathroom installation project and with this homeowner and his unique style sense.
